About Rockne "Makoa" Freitas, CPA

Founder and owner of Freitas Financial, Makoa was born and raised on the island of O’ahu and developed a love for accounting while obtaining a Master of Business Administration and Master of Accounting from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.  Since then he has worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Bishop Estate, Brigham Young University – Hawai’i (BYUH), and the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC).  While employed at PwC, Makoa gained valuable experience conducting extensive audit and tax compliance services for Fortune 1000 companies and high net worth individuals.  Makoa furthered his knowledge of not-for-profits and trusts while working for Bishop Estate, BYUH, and the PCC.  Makoa also has expertise implementing enterprise risk management systems, cost accounting, construction job costing, software implementation, and applying lean business strategies.  


Makoa earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and was a 2003 draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts.  Makoa holds a Certified Public Accountant License from the state of Hawaii.  A father of 4 children, Makoa enjoys spending time with his family, going to the beach, playing music, and volunteering at local youth football functions.
